Saved! I'm not one to really take the time to plug a business, even an AGLCA sponsor, but when my Captain fell ill I knew we had to get him to his doctor. We were cruising into the most expensive place around, Manhattan. I was definitely scared and felt very alone on a small boat in a big river. Our friend Sean Welsh suggested I call Half Moon Bay Marina even though it was behind us at Croton-on-Hudson. Having no ideas of my own and feeling flustered while the Captain gave me a subtle, but, this is an emergency face, I called. The voicemail said they would return my call within 20 minutes, and not expecting much, I still left a rambling, full of nervous energy, message for the dockmaster. Steve called me back in 5 minutes, and was one of the kindest and most helpful people I have ever spoken to. Truly, he felt like my best friend in those terrible moments. "No matter what you decide, please call me back and let me know how you are doing." I hung up and said, "Okay. We are going to Half Moon Bay Marina, and getting you to an airport and to your doctor." In a flash Steve was making arrangements to get us a good slip in a beautiful place. Many kind people joined him catching lines and guiding us in, powering us up, everything that my Captain would normally take care of. He suggested a company he knew personally to take us to the closest airport. Everything was taken care of for us, but especially for our boat Stinkpot while we were away getting treatment for two weeks. Experience Half Moon Bay Marina yourself for the wonderful scenery, gorgeous walking and riding trails, an incredible vegetable market with other stuff less than a half mile walk away, and even a free pumpout, but stay because the dockmaster Steve is the nicest, most empathetic and helpful person you will ever meet. We felt so very well taken care of and could not recommend a visit more highly!

We had a great multi-day stay at Half Moon Bay Marina this week. Steve’s regular communications prior to our arrival and throughout our stay was the best that we have experienced throughout or 2,600 nm journey thus far. The pdf welcome document that he provided was excellent and had tons of information on the area that helped us get the most out of our stay. The Marina is in a great location with most anything we needed within an easy walk including the Post Office, CVS, groceries and restaurants. (Happy Hour at the Piato Greek Kitchen was great). We also easily visited the USMA, in West Point and had a fabulous meal at CIA in Hyde Park. We will definitely return to Half Moon Bay during our next visit.

Where to begin... The location of the marina is beautiful. The marina itself is comfortable, well managed, and peaceful. Steve, the Dockmaster, went out of his way throughout our stay to make sure everything was perfect. By far one of the very best Dockmasters we've ever experienced. Couldn't recommend more. We will absolutely be back!

Half Moon Bay Marina is set in a gorgeous gated community on the eastern shore of the Hudson River. Dockmaster Steve had excellent communication with us so we had a 'plan of attack' before arrival. Our first stop was the included self service pump out on the northern dock. Once secured at our slip, we took advantage of the grocery store, pharmacy, and laundromat all within walking distance. Biking would also be an option on several trails to nearby parks! The bathrooms and shower (note: one shower per locker room) were clean and quiet; not sure how it would be during the summer as we were there in mid-October. A great stay and we'll be back!

Half Moon Bay Marina is most definitely 5 stars! The location is not just a beautiful, clean and protected marina to stay overnight, it's a wonderful destination! The town is adorable (and walkable) with many good restaurants and the Riverwalk is so picturesque! The most awesome part about HFB Marina is Steve, the dock master. He is such a pleasure to deal with and provided us with great information about the area. He is so responsive and helpful- can't say enough good stuff about him and the beautiful HMB Marina! We will be back!

We've experienced two great stays at Half Moon Bay - the first in June as we set out on a summer adventure to cruise the "Triangle Loop", and the second upon our return down the Hudson. Both times we were warmly welcomed by marina Manager Steve through a series of prompt, informative texts. Steve was also sure to greet us personally at the dock. As part of America's Great Loop Cruiser's Association we were especially delighted in June to be gifted with a pretty wood-crafted ornament featuring the Great Loop route attached to the comprehensive welcome guide. Also, as mentioned by others, the HMB docks are well maintained and protected by a barrier. We recently arrived on an exceptionally windy afternoon and Steve made sure that we had a perfectly comfortable spot. We definitely look forward to returning to Half Moon Bay next summer!
